The climate is mild but quite fresh and the average temperature varies from fifteen to twenty degrees above zero.

Famous for its Festa da Maçã (Apple Fest), Camacha is also the centre of the Madeiran Wickerwork Industry, where all sorts of furniture, baskets, hats, decoration items and kitchen utensils are manufactured. All this local craftwork can be found at the Village centre, in Café Relógio. Catering and hotel management, along with the catering trade are the other relevant economical activities.

As a curiosity, it was in this parish that football was first played in Portugal, more specifically in Largo da Achada, in 1875.

Leave the airport and head straight to Funchal.
When you get to 9,3km, the first sign will appear, showing a right exit to CANCELA/GARAJAU (1000m).
At 9,8km, a new sign comes up signalling CANCELA/GARAJAU (500M).
At 10,8km, you exit the freeway with a right turn.
At 11km, you turn right towards CANCELA.
At 11,3km, you will find a roundabout that you will have to make the circuit of and then carry on the freeway towards CAMACHA.
Go straight on till the end of the freeway.
At 15,1km, turn left at the roundabout, heading for CAMACHA/NOGUEIRA.
At 15,9km, you will find a large building (Hipermercado Sá) on your right and an intersection. You must turn left there, towards FUNCHAL.
At 16,7km, on your right and right after a (white) bus stop, you will find the entrance for Casas Valleparaízo. The entrance has two white pillars.
Go straight ahead. There is a small bifurcation, just before arriving at the main house, and there you should carry on to your left.

Leave Casas Valleparaízo and, when you get to the road, turn left towards Camacha village.
At 700m, turn right just before you get to Hipermercado Sá.
At 1,4km, turn right at the roundabout. Proceed to the end of the freeway.
At 5,1km, at the end of the freeway, you will find a roundabout that you must circle and then go straight ahead, in the same direction.
At 5,7km, you will find the sign to turn left, towards the Airport.
At 16,7km, you arrive at the Airport.
